PDMA Consulting Engineers achieves RISQS certification
Midlands-based PDMA Consulting Engineers has achieved Rail Industry Supplier Qualification Scheme (RISQS) certification, having successfully passed an independent audit of its management systems and processes.
RISQS certification identifies suppliers like PDMA, that have the systems and resources in place to deliver the services they offer, pre-qualifying to work with over 110 buying organisations across the rail industry.
PDMA Director Paul Markham commented: “RISQS certification, achieved in the short time it took us, required a concentrated effort by everyone within our team.
“It’s encouraging that our hard work has paid off and we can now get involved with designing permanent and temporary works schemes for rail projects.
“Throughout our team we have significant experience of schemes on or adjacent to the rail network and certification is recognition of our ability to do the job, whilst reducing the risk to the buyer of any interruption to normal operation of the rail network.
“Our staff have worked on major infrastructure projects that have the potential to impact the rail network, like our work designing a protection deck above the platforms and concourse during the construction of the revamped New Street Station in Birmingham.
“RISQS is a prestigious supplier organisation and acts a single resource that pools pre-qualified suppliers for buyers looking to procure items and services for the railway industry.
“It also helps us sell our services within the railway industry, as it provides an open, fair and transparent way for us to demonstrate we are a capable provider, that understands how to mitigate risk for the buyer.
“Our RISQS certification also gives us the opportunity to appear in the results of the thousands of searches every month, undertaken by the more than 110 buyers signed up to the scheme, which is promoted as a scheme ‘by the industry, for the industry’.
The audit demonstrates PDMA’s robust processes and procedures for the management of the design process as well as health, safety and environmental standards whilst working on the rail network.
Markham concludes: “Typically this is not a quick process, but given our experience and compliant systems, it was a relatively simple and quick audit that verified our procedures. Whatever the project, rail industry buyers can trust PDMA to get the job done safely and efficiently.”
